Filtertron Magnets Question

Post by Andrew McSpadden »

I want to make a few Filtertrons. I know they use a 1/4" thick magnet. Is it crazy to stack two 1/8" thick magnets?

Thanks!

I think it would be OK. You might want to bond the 2 magnets with identical poles facing the same direction, as they will want to repel one another. Several years back I was able to obtain 2 genuine Supertron magnets, but can’t remember from where. You might try a search as the vendor may still be around.

I just did a quick search: it seems Philadelphia luthier supply does have filters Ron magnets for sale.
