Start of a telecaster build

This will be a set neck with dual p90s and a carved top. The top is hickory with rosewood stripes and the back is walnut. I haven’t decided on the neck yet. Either flame maple with a Pau Ferro board or a laminated walnut/maple/walnut with the same fretboard

Re: Been a while - Got a couple of projects now

McWormy is on it's way to the new owner :) made a little money on it, not a bunch but it is not my full time gig.

Re: Taking care of dust in the shop

some people do that with a bucket as well, it is very scalable. I want to get a blower to put on top of mine so I can use it without the shop vac. I need to add an exhaust pass through in the wall so I can pump the air outside as well.

Re: Taking care of dust in the shop

I build a thein dust separator and it works amazing. It's built into a 50 gallon drum that I acquired. I use it primarily on my CNC but sometimes drag it around the garage to use with other tools as well.

I'm thinking a P90 based Tele build with a set neck on the next one.

Re: Been a while - Got a couple of projects now

So I finished up mcwormy! I need to take a video or 2 of it sometime. It plays very well. This includes the onboard tube screamer, GFS crunchy pat in the bridge, GFS dream 90 in the neck. Wilkinson ezlock tuners, strap locks, control cavity cover is held in place with magnets so that the battery is ...

Re: Tape slicer for masking fretboards

I typically just put full width tape on the fretboard and use an x-acto to cut it at the next fret. It has worked well for me.

Yeah, you may need to get those bubbles leveled off before doing the poly, unless you are brushing it on. I've had a heck of a time with pitting in my clear due to those bubbles. I'll be on my 3rd attempt soon. I'm making sure that I've got it totally leveled out before spraying clear this time.

Heck, the pickups I tend to use run around 28 gauge wires. I'd love it if they were 24 gauge instead, it would be a bit easier to work with.

Re: 3 axis router build

CNC is going to start a remodel before too long. I did get rid of the belts on the X axis and went with a pair of 1/2-10 5 start lead screws with a pair of nema 34 steppers running them, one being a slaved axis on the controller. The X motion runs great now. I had an issue with the belt drive on the...

I get mine at Hobby Lobby. They have a good selection at good prices. I finally threw out the bottle of thin glue after a couple of years in the kitchen cabinet.

Re: Shop made air filter advice

The course filter is nice for anytime you are spraying. It picks up the liquid particles so they don't clog up your finer filter as quickly
