MIMF

Hi all. I'm trying not to misdiagnose some trouble with this guitar, so I need some ideas and help thinking this through. My major concern is that I think that the pin holes were drilled incorrectly, with what would have been the drill tipped towards the heel. IF this is the case, I imagine this would (have) contributed to the top distortion, which is about 1 mm, or maybe a bit more, in the center of the top. Filling the pin holes and redrilling them perpendicular to the top I think is the fix. Tell me what I am missing before I start with the making sawdust.

That is not correct. Angle of the pin holes has zero effect on belly. And a belly of 1 or 2 mm is absolutely fine and normal; in fact even desirable. The real question should be’ “How high is the action.”

OK thanks. I'm used to bellying on older instruments. I'll quit worrying about it. The action is within normal limits, and perfectly fine for my style of playing.
