Acrylic Paint Pour on a guitar?

Hi folks,
Longtime member, been gone a long time, back with a new project.
I've come into possession of a solid-body guitar that someone abandoned partway through a refinish, and I'm thinking of doing an acrylic paint pour on the main body. Anybody done one of these? I've come across people doing those hydro-dip finishes on things using spray paint, but I've had bad luck with those, and I've done the paint pours successfully on canvas. I'm a little afraid the finish will be too soft and end up rubbing off when I play the thing. I hear there are acrylic clearcoat products but I haven't had much experience with them. I'd welcome any advice you have; I've always gotten good advice here before.
Thanks in advance,
Dan Warren
