Here's a cigar box uke I just finished

Post by Ron Daves »

Just finished this uke about a week ago. It was a fun project and only took 46 hours. Compares to the 160 hours I spent on my concert uke. It's been awhile since I built anything, so I had to regain my rhythm and got a couple things out of sequence (eg: put frets in before I installed the dots and didn't finish the FB first). I also learned, again, that the centerline is pretty important and you can't be sloppy with superglue

Nice! I just went to the St. Louis Cigar Box Guitar show this weekend. I didn't even know it existed. I saw a ton of interesting cigar box (and other things made into bodies) guitars, ukes, banjos. . . I can see how people get hooked on making these.

Cute little uke. I'd like to see more pics, too.

Pretty simple "X" braces on both the top and bottom. Both ends of the box are reinforced with 1/16" panels on the inside.
