If you wanted to go with the ratchet straps and the buckle inst sealing well enough, you could use two of them offset by 15- 20 degrees. That should still make it easy to reach both to unhook them. The strap from one should seal the gap of the other.

What does that mean?

That's right, Dustmageddon 2 opened last night for a special, one-night-only, engagement in my shop! I was there for the blow-out premier.
holy-f-ing-$#!t - another saturday wasted
I do not have enough 4-letter words for my friends at Shop-Fox who thought that cheap-ass plastic strapping with a worthless crimp would do this job.
sure - bad on my for not replacing both when i had the chance -

took me a couple hours, but mostly back to normal.
used it all day without issue - both bags are held on with wire now.

Chuck,
It seems like you are generating a lot of pressure in those bags That's a sign that the upper is pretty clogged which is what happens with the cheap 30 micron bags that come with most DCs. You can order a much thicker felted bag that's closer to 1 micron and takes much longer to clog up and does a much better job filtering. I've bought them from Grizzly and also had custom ones made locally by a company called Blue Sky Filters http://www.blueskyfilters.com/industria ... facturing/ that are really nice. It's the best $50 I've ever spent.

Don’t buy another bag! Shop for a filter cartridge that fits. It has a lot more surface area than a bag, will pass a lot more air, and filter better. Even if the best your can find is a 1 micron bag, it will do a decent job on the smaller particles. Once you’ve used a cartridge, you’ll wonder why anyone messes with bags.

Then for your next upgrade, you want a cyclone.

David - it is a brand new felt bag from ShopFox - rated at 2.5 micron.

After seeing Steve's shop in that other thread I've aleady been dreaming of a better dust management system

If you ever go with the ratchet straps I would do away with the hooks and just attach the long strap where the short one attaches and then pull it through the ratchet mechanism.
One other thing - the collector bag bottom looks like it is off the floor (maybe I'm not seeing it right). Once it gets a lot of dust and chips in it, it will be rather heavy and may pull itself off the unit.

I don't use the dust bag that came with my delta dust collector. I run the exhaust out the back wall of my shop. I can do that because my nearest neighbor is about a quarter mile away.

It looks as though the plastic bag is a bit short.
I buy bags long enough that the weight sits on the base of the collector.
That way they do not come out from under the banding.

Alternately you could stack some pieces of plywood underneath.

Clay & Gordon, the bag is short. That's the way it came, I have 5 of them so I figure I'm going to wait till it's full enough that I can tell how much I need to prop it up and I'll make something that will essentially be permanent - because 5 bags is a lifetime supply for me.
Daryl, if I were to just blow the dust out that wall it would land all over this guy Vijay
he would not appreciate it. :-)

I knew you knew Vijay, I didn’t know you were neighbors. I guess that explains why he started formulating Royal-Lac for spraying. . .

I would stack enough wood under it that it has a small amount of slack at the band. As it fills it will simply fill. You can adjust later if needed.
